Spencer Anderson-McElligott and Ryan Cavanaugh earned All-American honors at the Cross Examination Debate Association national championship. This prestigious recognition is bestowed upon only 30 students nationwide, highlighting their outstanding academic, community, and competitive achievements. Notably, no university can have more than two students selected.

Furthermore, Iowa has been awarded three National Debate Scholar accolades, celebrating academic excellence. Maile Huffman has earned the highest honor, Summa Cum Laude, while Spencer Anderson-McElligott and Ryan Cavanaugh have been recognized with Magna Cum Laude and Cum Laude distinctions, respectively.

Our Iowa Debaters exemplify the pinnacle of scholarly excellence at the University of Iowa. Join me in congratulating these exceptional scholar athletes and wishing them the very best.
