I am thrilled to share the outstanding achievements of Spencer Anderson-McElligott (’26) and Ryan Cavanaugh (’24) as they secured a Top 5 finish at the Cross Examination Debate Association’s national championship. Such recognition underscores their exceptional talent and dedication to the art of debate.

Additionally, I want to recognize Rose Bilicki (’27), Maile Huffman (’24), Vriti Patel (’27), and Grey Parfenoff (’27) for their commendable performance, achieving a 5-3 record and advancing to the elimination rounds. Their contributions have further solidified Iowa's presence among the nation's top debate programs.

It's worth noting that Iowa proudly had three teams place at the CEDA national debate tournament, showcasing our program's depth and competitiveness.

Furthermore, I am delighted to announce that Ryan achieved 6th place and Spencer secured 11th place in the Top Speaker rankings, a testament to their eloquence and skill in debate.

With 176 of the nation’s finest debaters in attendance, representing 88 esteemed teams from institutions like Harvard, Emory, and USC, our success shines even brighter.
