Biography

Netta Yehezkel is a seasoned debate coach and academic with a strong foundation in communications and psychology. She has made significant contributions to the field of debate coaching, guiding students to success at both the national and local levels. Netta's approach to coaching is rooted in fostering critical thinking, persuasive argumentation, and strategic decision-making among her students.

Her academic journey includes a Master's degree in Communications from the University of Wyoming (August 2022 - August 2024) and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from California State University, Fullerton (August 2012 - May 2017).

During her tenure as a Debate Coach and Coordinator at the University of Wyoming, Netta enhanced the Persuasive Argumentation course, developing curriculum and content that significantly improved her students' debating skills. She played a pivotal role in managing the debate team's participation in various tournaments, ensuring logistical efficiency and a supportive team environment. Her coaching prowess was demonstrated when she successfully led a hybrid debater to reach the Doubles round of the Cross Examination Debate Association (CEDA), one of the most prestigious debate tournaments in the country.

Netta's experience extends to the University of Iowa, where she coached and mentored students, preparing them for high-stakes national debate competitions. Her individualized coaching plans and rigorous training sessions contributed to her team reaching the quarterfinals of the CEDA nationals.

In addition to her hands-on coaching, Netta's academic research delves into the psychological underpinnings of political behavior. Her master's thesis explores the relationship between personality traits—particularly the Thinking-Feeling subscale of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)—and support for populism. Utilizing a Jungian framework and a Burkean rhetorical lens, her research uncovered a significant correlation between Thinking types and an affinity for populist rhetoric. This work not only challenges traditional views on personality assessments but also provides valuable insights into the dynamics of political ideology in the United States.

Netta Yehezkel's expertise in debate coaching, combined with her scholarly research, positions her as a dynamic professional in both the academic and competitive debate arenas. Her commitment to developing strong, independent thinkers and her innovative research contributions continue to impact students and scholars alike.
